FINALLY, much anticipated rain has come to lion city. It is reported that the last February was the driest month so far within 147 years back to history. The dry season was visibly prolonged and the rain never come to the shore since mid January. As a result, the roadside grass belt are becoming dry and the dry leaves fall over from their mother trees to add some more mess over the roads. I never see such messy roadside view before since I arrived to this city for past 7 years. I presumed that Singapore's town councils have good management and praised them for maintaining their beautiful road by green lined trees.
I understand from this dry season that the weather also can have its impact on clean & green city image. If a wealthy country like Singapore fails to maintain its famous greenery stage when the climate went against their favor, no wonder my country have a lot of messy and dirty roads across the country. I could imagine why at least because we have three significant season in a given calendar year, unlike Singapore. It say a lot between two countries.
Rain brought some happiness to a republic. As dry season prolonged, haze from neighboring Indonesia stray over the sky of island state. What can we do then? Just try to accept as a natural disaster. Seeing the government's afford to retain precious water amap through some campaign. I saw a lot advice from environmental and water ministry urging people to save water and not to waste unnecessarily. I could understand their worry since they even import lot of water from neighboring country. Some even suggests to PUB to increase bill as a part of precautionary measurement. Anyway, yesterday rain has brought some relief to city state and its people. Everybody happy including trees and grasses I believe. I hope Singapore's roads will restore its previous stage which is green and beautiful. Thanks Rain for coming our land. Hope you'ld stay here as long as you can from this point onward.
