FEW days after Myanmar maid is accused for murder of her employer, another news with relate to Myanmar maid is surfaced. This time Myanmar maid is not subject, she is the victim of something unknown to now. She is found at the foot of the flat she is working for and paramedic declares the motionless body is dead on the spot. Myanmar is not a nation of maid at least for legally. However recently our government changed their mind to make this business become illegal to legal ones by citing the reason for protection of their plight abroad. I am not sure their aim is fulfilled or not. Most of Myanmar people are not welcome that news and Government as usual proceed with their proceed without listening people's concern.
I understand that maids from Philippine and Indonesia are changing their direction toward better paid nations such as Hong Kong and Taiwan from their current job at lion city. This trend make republic crisis in fulfilling demand from their households. As such, they tried to search another resource within region and find Myanmar and Cambodia as a good replacement for their maid voids. Likewise, Hong Kong has become famous for maid abusive incidents and Indonesia and Philippine authorities recently stopped their export to that particular nation. As a result, HK just like S'pore tried to find new place to rely on and successfully persuaded our government to make maid agency legal.
Get back to the story, first one in which Myanmar maid killed 85 years old employer story. It is not easy to kill a person without having some harsh story behind. Besides, our women are not such people who are inconsiderate through our culture. We have to find out the reason behind which drove her become a killer. I don't heard any news saying Myanmar embassy is offering assistance to accuse for defence and I am saddened by this fact. While Indonesian and Philippine maids are in trouble, their embassies are always motivate to protect their citizen's right. In this case, our embassy silent mean irresponsible and shameful act for our nationals stay away from home. Second case is different story in which our maid is being killed, regardless of suicide or murder. Our embassy must trace the case so that the justice is bring to victim. I don't think our embassy official will offer the assistance the victim's family might need. Anyway, as a fellow citizen, I am grief to learn such news frequently and pray her rest in peace, at least in her next life.
