Is protest always good ?

PROTEST, couple years ago it is the word for the people who goes the hell at the end. Now it have becoming norm in our newly open society. Under iron-fist ruler, our people have been swallowed those angers generated by bullied authority. As Myanmar open up, political and economic reforms are made quickly including the law that allow people to protest peacefully with advanced permit by the police. Unlike before, our people became very motivate people who happily join several NGOs and social firms as a volunteers. Those firms make people unite and make it easy to walk out whenever they feel something wrong is happening to our country. They are trying to highlight those unfair big government contract, education, health, environment problem, etc. As a poor nation, we have got ton of things to be improved or upgraded. Everything need to be changed if we are about to go ahead.

However, seeing people protest very often may make the government effort dragging because it need authority time to adapt and restore order. On the other hand, it is helpful to check and balance within community. At least the government knows that they can't do anything carelessly like in the past. At the same time, the media censorship has been removed and the media has been more powerful than ever before. They are equipped with latest IT gadget and internet, it make their job easier and swift to share their finding to the public. It is another good thing to become a democratic nation. As long as our authority exercise constrain against people's protest, I am sure our democratization will not return and hopefully we would be an ideal democratic nation at least within ASEAN region. Thanks authority for letting our people express their feeling more freely than before.
