Let's be graceful fans

WHO, as a football fan, wants to pay to see their team lose? Definitely nobody. Everybody wants to see their team win and enjoy football. But sometime people seem forgot that the game must produce winner at the end of the match. Some are gracious in conceding lose while others are not. We all see the fair play flag before the game. But wondering does it make sense. Some might while other may not as referee is human being too. Human can make mistake and we have to learn to forgive it. However, game management has to play a part as well by carefully selecting competent person to handle a game.

We, Myanmarese, are not rude people. We are being taught to be polite by our religious as well as teachers. We have learned how to respect each other. We have practice our patient especially we are working in foreign land. I am really disappointed to see the news of today sport publishing together with a photo of Myanmar fan's protest to the game. I admit some have made mistake by doing ridiculous behavior such as throwing object at referee and shouting f words to show their frustration toward some decisions. We all understand that this is a nation which has rule of law. We all understand that Singapore is not tolerance against any kind of offense. But, as a football fans, they earn some right to show their frustration unless it cause other hurt. We should be allowed to shout something we think of wrong.

We pay our hard-earn money, S$ 6.00 per head. We cut our working time and risk senior's unhappiness. Some cancelled their over time to show their support. It means their ticket cost them more than S$6.00. Some tried to make environment better through their activities like singing, dancing, clapping, hitting something to generate noisy sound, etc. I understand that FAS is struggling to convince local fans to return stadium. I understand how Singapore is ambitious with their 2030 goal. We need football mad people to make the sport more attractive. We need crazy fans to make joyous stadium. We need to turn people's mind to see stadium as an entertainment stage. If the above are some cases, then football management has to be tolerate when fans turn chaos in the peak of the match. I believe that security officers has done well in handling angry crowd.

In brief, it is not fair to blame at fans alone when the match went wrong. The match officials and some players also take some part of problem. We all only can make together it success when all department perform well. To achieve it, of course, people also have to learn how to watch soccer matches gracefully. They have to be try to tolerance when their team is losing. They have to accept the result when it come fair way. They have to recognize better team become winner. I personally hope, we all together make this ASEAN region a place of football mad people and finally win a bid of hosting world cup as a dream.
