KLIA to Kuala Lumpur City
ABOUT 6:00pm around, one of director(Mr. Han) and Store Manager(Mr. Christ) came to KLIA and pick me and my friends up. As soon as we are cleared immigration process, they asked us to give our passport to them. Since then I never seen my passport again until my departure date. It took me 3 year time exactly and we are controlled by employer by this way. In fact, they, employers, have no right to keep their workers's passports but it is really happening to most of migrant workers to Malaysia I think. If I am not mistaken, only 1% of workers able to hold their passport in hand. They claim it is the best way to handle all sort of general workers since they have been experience in past in which workers run away and turned overstay workers. Actually it's because of serial bulliness and unfair treats. No worker will run away if they treat their worker properly and nicely. What I mean here properly is not meaning to get bonus, big salary or facilities, etc. What we, workers, demand only is getting salary regularly and OT accordingly.
After taking our passport, they asked us "who is bachelor?", I immediately step forward and raise my hand to air by saying I'm. To be honest, I was confused in what they call bachelor, anyway I am eligible for both way since I am not only single but also degree holder. So I confidently declare I'm bachelor man. They noted by brain and asked us to board on their car equally. There are two cars to be board, one is mercedies and another is audi pick-up car. I board on the audi-pick-up car beside driver seat. It's driven by store manager and I got a chance to talk to him on d way to KL City. I asked him several question on d way to City,,
Me: how far is it from here KLIA to KL?
Manager: it's about 75 km.
Me: how long will it take us?
Manager: about 1 and half hour.
Me: Oh I see.
Manager: What did you do in Myanmar?
Me: of course I do engineering job.
Manager: It's good
Me: But I am usually work at office and strong with paper works.
Manager: really? what kind of paper did u do in previously jobs?
Me: Mostly I perform as a QS and used to estimate quantity required in construction and deal with supplier. Moreover it's my duty to survey market price and prepare budget as well as progress claims and certs.
Manager: I see
Me : I am so impressed to see development of your country, Sir.
Manager: isn't it?
Me: yes, since I first see KLIA bldg, I was amazed and again this express way are excellent.
Manager: yes of course since your country had been far behind..
Me: immm, btw have you ever been to myanmar?
Manager: yes I have been there for several time.
Me: really? does it related with your job?
Manager: yes of course, it's my duty to select right workers by interviewing them at yangon.
Me: Oh i see, then you must be a key player of this company.
Manager: imm I have been working this company for more than 10 years.
Me: it's amazing exp, what does your company do?
Manager: we are foundation specialist, especially in bored piles and contiguous bored piles.
Me: I see, where is the sites usually?
Manager: we only do in KL City area.
Me: Oh it is good record
Manager: yes it is, we are relatively big company in Malaysia and got a lot project in future.
Me: no wonder your company needs a lot foreign workers.
Meanwhile, I saw a traitor who carry a lot of proton car passed by on the road. By showing it to manager;
Me: is it proton cars?
Manager: yes it is, how do you know that?
Me: I knew it from newspaper and books I read before.
Manager: then you must be a book-worm
Me: imm a bit right, I also admire your ex-PM Mahathir.
Manager: you also know him?
Me: yes of course, he is very famous in world.
Manager: proudly reply me "yes he is" we all ppl like him as a leader who make msia developing
Me: Are they housing project beside express way?
Manager: yes, there are a lot project like that in malaysia.
Me: really? I hope construction sector would be strong for years during my time.
Manager: No doubt guy
The car is driving with very high speed on the excellent express road. The roadside lump are good enough to shine a road as a day light and drivers won't find it difficult to drive. The expressway are so wide and good to drive. Each way have 6 lanes at least and car are driving with a specific speed limit. I could able to see speed limit beside road and also notice that there are some public phone boot for emergency call. There are a lot of palm tree beside the road and also have housing development. It's visible for roadside business advertisement and I was impressed by everything I saw on the way to City.
I am much look like a villager who just arrive to a metropolitan city. Since I was sitting infront of car beside driver seat, I can see everything clearly. Also I could construct a good relationship with manager. I have a secretely plan to make him impression so that I can able to work paper work at office. In my mind I don't want to work job on site. I'ld love to work at office if I can get a chance. But my post agreement with agent was a site supervisor only and I have no choice if they, my employer, send me site. Anyway I have a prospect of working at office by making friendly with manager. The whole road I mostly talked to manager about my past experience and ask future job.
He only asked me technical-related question that is " Do you know about diaphragm wall?", I could able to answer bcz of I asked my frd who have returned myanmar from this company and briefly answer him " yes I know, it's not more than a retaining wall", Manager say "yes it is" and since then he never asked me any more questions. We arrived our destination place on 7:30pm around. It is our company's main store as well as a workshop for heavy machinery. I don't know where to stay and just alight and follow people go.
