I'm just writing to show my feeling from my personal experience in this blog. Since different people has different ideas, you're likely to agree at some while disagree on another.
Since he suffers from a mental illness, he should be treated with kindness and empathy.
So called "normal" people experience depressive episodes from time to time as well. Some mental illnesses also has a genetic component, similar to people with cancer who might be more prone to cancer if there is a history in the family.
"Normal" people get angry and even abusive at times as well.
Stigma would deter people from seeking the help needed to gain mental health which can lead to dire consequences.
Was he right to shout and push the old lady off the bus? No.
Should we practice compassion knowing he is having a hard time? Yes.
I am sure anyone would appreciate some care and understanding in moments of need.
