How last can a reputation be?

HOW LONG DOES it take to establish a brand to be recognized by not only domestically but internationally? Probably it can consume a few years for domestic market and a decade to international market. But once it come to breakdown, it take as short as a few days. What an interesting is it but it's universal truth. Just watch out and take a look at a business world, you will notice some big boys are falling unbelievably.

I recently noticed that Japan's big boys JAL was filing its bankruptcy statement followed by its fellow citizen Toyota, the world biggest car company's crisis. Nobody will think a big corporate companies like JAL and Toyota will end with a bad story like these. JAL (Japanese Airline) is a leading carrier among the regional heavy weight. But as a consequent of a global recession, air line industry was severely affected and JAL was no exception. As a world's second largest economy's flag carrier, nobody will think JAL will have a such a kind of failure in term of financial. Everybody was surprised to see them surrender by this way rather than saved by its prosperous government. There might have been a reason that I can't understand with my own tiny brain.

Another tragedy for Japanese big boy is Toyota who is facing now custom complains for its latest version of safety concern problems. One is anti-brake system failure and another is accelerator pedal false that lead to exercise recalls hundred thousands cars that can cost Toyota over US$ 2 billions and they are still counting. The worse is losing customer confident upon its product and it'll take long time to get back the same market proportion as before this case. Toyota has been global brand and Japanese proud for a leading corporate company for a few decade since it has been established. In order to get its reputation, it has been built for as long as three generation time, but it can be destroyed by as short as a few days. I believe they can find the best solution in saving their brand sooner or later.

If a reputation of a brand can be spoiled within a relatively short time, how about a person when it breaks a rule of society? I think is not different between a material and a human being. It can take somebody for a whole life to make himself a truth-worthy man. But the aforesaid reputation can be abandoned by a single mistake especially in a morally. Toyota is likely to loose a bit for its quality control system once they accept some default part from its suppliers and it could effectively spoiled its global brand that had been constructed by several decades. It seems unfair to a company but no rooms for excuses. We also, in our life, cannot afford to give excuses when we are committing something wrong that our society won't accept and we will have to pay sth as a penalty and it'll hurt us. Hopefully we can take extra care when it come to test our moral value in life and try to become a person of value for ever.
