A dream course come true
I never thought I would have a chance to study law in my life. As a talkative boy, I was told by adults that I will become a lawyer when I was young. It was 19th last month when I submit my application form for YUDE law department after my friend share info with the opportunity. My friend and I were interested in the courses designated to be taught during the study period. It is fortunately online based course and meant for working adults who could study without compromising their prevailing job.
It is not free course despite online. It cost me 600,000 Ks to finish two semesters. Each semester will last 5 months long and we could get post-graduate diploma if we passed all assignments, tutorials, semester exams and term paper. We know it is not an easy task. We quickly decided to submit our application form to feed our interest in law. For me, being QS to which ultimate position is becoming contract manager one day. In order to do so, I must have a good knowledge of contract. Besides, I noted from one consultant QS that the role of QS is 1/3 engineer, 1/3 accountant and 1/3 lawyer. I agree with her and I believe that I am taking right decision by taking this online course.
It never come easy from the beginning. I submitted my application form two weeks before course commencement date. I didn't receive any response until course commencement date and needed to call department with regarding to our application. I believe that I deserve the outcome of my application regardless of result. I knew my admission is passed only when I talked to admin department staff. Then I instantly received email to inform my admission as well as instruction to proceed with. The instruction is to make payment before 2:00pm the following day. In fact, I am working abroad and making payment within such short period is almost impossible. I however managed to make payment through the help of my sister and friend who are living in Myanmar. I don't know why their management is lousy like that despite they are law faculty.
After making payment, I am given student ID and password to access lesson through online. Understand that I need to read 5 papers in 1st semester and saw some assignments and short questions at the end of each chapter to practice. Few days from beginning, there has been a message on my homepage notice saying I am supposed to finish all assignments before end of October. Sound a bit ridiculous and no practical for working adult students. But I have no choice but to submit in time if I want to pass the course. I have highest respect with Yangon university as it is now under processing to transform reputable one following negligence of decades. I am of course disappointed to learn my very first days of online student with the Myanmar's best known university. Hopefully I will able to pass the course without much difficulties.
